CHI Scholarships

Scholarship Criteria

Recepient

CHI Scholarships support socially and economically disadvantaged students who require financial assistance. Candidates must demonstrate academic promise, professional commitment to community service, maturity, adaptability, and respect for other cultures.

Students must meet the following qualifications

  • Recently admitted and enrolled first or second-year graduate or professional student in the Medical School, School of Public Health or School of Social Work
  • Enrolled third or fourth-year undergraduate student pursuing health care related major (Scholarships administered through MCAE)
  • From socially or economically disadvantaged backgrounds, with special consideration for students of color
  • United States citizen or permanent resident
  • A cumulative GPA of 2.8 or greater
  • Full-time student

CHI Scholarship awards may be used to cover the cost of educational expenses like tuition, fees, books or room and board. They may supplement, but not exceed other scholastic awards. CHI Scholarship applications are available at the designated schools.  Contact the University of Minnesota representative in your area of study.

Additional Scholarship Information

  • Number and amount of Scholarships provided to each school can vary depending on yearly Medica CHI budget commitment and distribution of funds by CHI Program Manager
  • Scholarships should be used not only for recruitment, but also for retention – schools should utilize all eligibility years when considering students for scholarships
  • Students may receive a CHI Scholarship (repeat awardee) in each of their years of eligibility
  • Scholarship recipients should attend all CHI Program sponsored events including the Annual Spring Recognition Reception and Fall Appreciation Luncheon
