The Community Health Initiative (CHI), in partnership with Medica, is proud to announce the commencement of the 2021 Community Internship Program. This summer, 28 graduate and professional students from the University of Minnesota will work with 21 local non-profit organizations and small businesses to promote health equity in the Twin Cities community. This record number of interns will serve in their roles from June 1 through September 3 and several students will use their internship experiences to fulfill Applied Practice and Field Experience requirements for their graduate degree programs.
In addition to welcoming 13 wonderful returning organizations back to the internship program, 8 new partnering agencies are also joining the CHI family this summer. Brightside Produce, Handy Help LLC, HealthStar Home Health, Indian Health Board of Minneapolis, MENTOR Minnesota, Minnesota CarePartner, Sprout MN, and YMCA Camp Menogyn are all new to the CHI program and add exciting facets to the program’s equity-focused work.
CHI and Medica are also excited to announce the return of CHI Consulting Projects in the Fall 2021 semester. Applications for organizations and students will be available later in the summer and further details can be found on the CHI Consulting Projects web page.
