Preferred Qualifications
- Students from socially and economically disadvantaged or ethnically diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply
- Strong academic credentials (Minimum GPA of 3.0)
- Experience with underserved community of color or nonprofit organizations
Students who participate in the program
- Gain valuable experience working with community-based nonprofit organizations or businesses serving diverse communities
- Develop hands-on professional skills
- Improve their communications and consulting skills
- Are exposed to potential careers and new community engagement opportunities
- Apply classroom knowledge to real-life management and operational situations
- Should expect to spend approximately 60-80 hours on the project throughout the semester
- Should complete their projects within the timeframe of Fall or Spring semester
- Will have to submit a Work Plan at the start and a Final Report & Evaluation at the completion of the project
- Will be paid a $1,050.00 (minus taxes) consulting payment at project completion
